General Liability
General liability can respond to covered third-party injury and property-damage claims arising from your work and completed operations.
Commercial Auto
Commercial auto addresses covered risks involving your business vehicles, listed drivers, and specific business use of trucks and vans.
Tools & Equipment
Tools and equipment need their own coverage review, especially Inland Marine coverage for items that travel between jobsites or are kept in vehicles.
Licensing Rules
Requirements depend on your business structure, license and contracts. Confirm current licensing requirements with CSLB and share your contracts with us.

Frequently asked questions
What insurance does CSLB require for my contractor license?
CSLB requires a contractor bond, and workers' compensation if you have employees or hold certain classifications. General liability is not required by CSLB for most trades, but most clients and general contractors require it by contract.
Do I need general liability if I only do small jobs?
Most property owners, property managers, and general contractors require a certificate before you start, regardless of job size. A liability claim from a single job can exceed what a small contractor can absorb.
Are my tools covered if they are stolen from my truck?
Usually not by auto or general liability. Tools and equipment that travel between jobsites typically need separate inland marine coverage. We will review how and where you keep your gear.
What do you need to quote contractor insurance?
Your trade and license classification, annual revenue, payroll if you have employees, a list of vehicles and drivers, your current policies if any, and the insurance requirements from any contracts you have.
Can I get a certificate of insurance today?
Certificates are issued once coverage is bound. Additional insured endorsements, special wording or changes to coverage may require carrier approval, so send us the requirements early.
